Submission Guide for Scientific Work to the Ussher Society
We welcome submissions of scientific research relating to the South-West of England for consideration. To facilitate an efficient review process, authors are asked to follow the guidance below:
Submission Method
- Manuscripts should be submitted electronically, either:
- As an email attachment to: M.Hart@plymouth.ac.uk
- Ussher Society Editor: Malcolm Hart
- Via a secure file transfer service (e.g. WeTransfer)
- As an email attachment to: M.Hart@plymouth.ac.uk
Review Process
- Each submission will undergo peer review by at least two independent reviewers.
- The editorial team will assess the fairness and quality of reviewer feedback.
- Where necessary, a third independent review may be sought to ensure balanced evaluation.
Revision Requirements
- Authors will receive reviewer comments along with clear editorial instructions.
- A revised manuscript is expected that addresses all feedback comprehensively unless a case for not doing so is presented.
- Further revisions may be requested if the response is incomplete or insufficient.
Acceptance and Production
- Once revisions are deemed satisfactory, the manuscript will undergo a final editorial check.
- The accepted manuscript will then be forwarded for professional typesetting.
- While papers are typeset professionally, authors are asked to follow the style of published papers, using headings/subheadings, references in PUS format (with Doi numbers where available), etc..
- Authors must provide good quality images and figures, with clear permissions for those figures that have been used elsewhere. Figure captions must note the sources of all images and figures if not originals.
- Authors will receive page proofs for review prior to final publication.
